Democrats- Tell us YOUR plan!
I had to stop myself from shouting at my television last night. Picture Nancy Pelosi giving her response to Bush's speech last night. She said we have no plan for winning things in Iraq. What has she been smoking? As I see it, we must defeat the insurgents (Terrorists) before we can get into high gear rebuilding the country. We are working at that while we see to the rebuilding of a democratic government; re-establishing an Iraqi military and police; rebuild schools, highways, roads, bridges and the like; holding free elections and restoring peace. Maybe Nancy is just smarter than we conservatives. She should enlighten the rest of us if she has a better plan. I haven't heard her speak up about what SHE would do. Please Nancy! You're so much wiser than George Bush or the rest of us. Tell us your brilliant plan! Tell us how you stop a guy from strapping a bomb to his chest and walking into a streetside restaurant to blow up innocents. Tell us how we stop the problem of troops being killed by roadside IED's. Maybe if we had sent only hand wringing liberals over there, they'd have solved the problems by now. After all, they're soooooo much smarter than the rest of us, especially we conservatives. C'mon Nancy! Save us!

No comments Democrats? So you have no plan? Then stop the "Bush has no plan " crap until you do have a workable plan of your own.
As far as I know, Tony, he intends to install a democracy in Iraq and let the citizens experience freedom and the right to vote for their own leaders and government. He intends to beat the terrorists and then rebuild the country. Once this island of freedom is installed, it will spread the desire for freedom to surrounding nations. Others will see how much better life becomes in a free nation and desire it for themselves. Freedom is a desirable thing to have. Don't you agree?
I find it interesting that you had no plan to share yourself Tony. Interesting, but not suprising.
I just wish Pelosi would blink. Just once.
That's a total cop out Tony. Assuming we are there and must see things through, what would you do differently than Bush? I already know that you wouldn't have gone in. That wasn't the question!

Democrats did release a plan and what happened? Republicans stole it and called it their own.
The proposal on the Iraq war, from Senator Bill Frist, the majority leader, and Senator John W. Warner, Republican of Virginia, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, would require the administration to provide extensive new quarterly reports to Congress on subjects like progress in bringing in other countries to help stabilize Iraq. The other appeals related to Iraq are nonbinding and express the position of the Senate.
The plan stops short of a competing Democratic proposal that moves toward establishing dates for a phased withdrawal of troops from Iraq. But it is built upon the Democratic approach and makes it clear that senators of both parties are increasingly eager for Iraqis to take control of their country in coming months and open the door to removing American troops.
Mr. Warner said the underlying message was, "we really mean business, Iraqis, get on with it." The senator, an influential party voice on military issues, said he did not interpret the wording of his plan as critical of the administration, describing it as a "forward-looking" approach.
"It is not a question of satisfaction or dissatisfaction," he said. "This reflects what has to be done."
Democrats said the plan represented a shift in Republican sentiment on Iraq and was an acknowledgment of growing public unrest with the course of the war and the administration's frequent call for patience. "I think it signals the fact that the American people are demanding change, and the Republicans see that that's something that they have to follow," said Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader.
Mr. Frist said an important reason for the Republican proposal was to offer an alternative to the Democratic call for a withdrawal timetable. "The real objective was to get out of this timeline of cutting and running that the Democrats have in their amendment," he said.
Mr. Warner said he decided to take the Democratic proposal and edit it to his satisfaction in an effort to find common ground between the parties on the issue.

The largest part of the so called Democrat "plan" is setting dates for a pull out. That is just assininely stupid. It shows how little that the Democrats get it on the big picture over there. I'm all for moving things forward and getting the Iraqis to have control of their own country, but a quick pull out and a set date is idiotic. That's no plan at all- just CYA.
